The Department has funds to help graduate students offset the cost of travel to national or international meetings at which they are presenting their work as either a platform talk or a poster.
Students should submit a request to the Graduate Program Director at least six weeks prior to the meeting. The request letter should include: the full name (no abbreviations) and date of the meeting, title of the presentation, presentation format (talk or poster) and state the desired award amount (not to exceed $250) and be signed by both the student and the student's advisor. The request must also be accompanied by the conference abstract which includes the full list of authors and a letter of acceptance from the conference.
The Professional Development Award of up to $500* also is available through the Office of Graduate Studies. The deadline for application for a travel award is one month prior to the time of travel.
